23 Aug
August 23, 2012

This converted watermill for sale is situated within the Astwick Conservation Area close to the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border, one mile from the small town of Stotfold.

The watermill, which dates back to 1780 was converted by the current owners nearly 30 years ago and the site has been the location for a watermill dating back to the time of the Domesday book.

It is a 6 bedroom detached house with 4 reception rooms and 3 bathrooms. The property also benefits from a large garden, private parking (with a garage), outbuildings, tennis court and a river with double and single bank fishing rights.
The gardens, which are totally secluded, are divided by the wide millstream and predominantly laid to lawn. The gardens are a haven for wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy throughout the year with kingfishers, herons, swans, coots and owls viewed from both inside and outside the property. From the family room a sunny, sheltered patio overlooks the jetty, millstream and gardens beyond.

More photos and further details can be found here. The price is available on application.

August 22, 2012

It’s rare when a renovation project for sale comes on the market. This property in Hampshire is especially, as it’s one that isn’t at auction and can be viewed whilst the decision can be thought about for a while.

Concealed off the High Street within the conservation area, is this small detached cottage with planning permission to extend. There isn’t too much detail to be found on the property other than there are gardens in excess of an acre, leading down to a carrier of the River Test.

The existing accommodation consists of a kitchenette, shower room, first floor sitting room with bedroom off and an integral garage. The garden is in total about 1.18 acres.

As always further details can be found here. The guide price is £395,000.

Converted Corn Mill for Sale: Lupton, Cumbria

14 Aug
August 14, 2012

A Grade II Listed (I’m not going out of my way to find Grad II listed buildings) converted corn mill for sale overlooking mill pond with a river running through the gardens.

It was bought lying derelict by the current owners and carefully rebuilt and converted. Now ready for some cosmetic updating this is an opportunity to put your own stamp on a piece of history and  create a beautiful house in a beautiful setting.

Outside there’s a double garage with bathing platform (?) attached to the back as it borders an impressive 0.39 acre mill pond. At the far end is a boathouse and summer house. The gardens  offer a mix of formal and informal, lightly wooded in places with ‘Lupton Beck’ forming the southern border. In all, it has around 1.35 acres.

There is a cobbled parking area to the front of the property, garden with mill stone with Lupton Mill carving. Double garage (6.03m x 5.9m [19’9 x 19’5]) to the rear over the mill pond with a small wooden jetty. A pathway borders the pond and leads to a lightly wooded area with boathouse, store and summerhouse. Lower flagged terrace and large level lawn with mature trees, rear courtyard with log store. Finally a waterfall flowing into ‘Lupton Beck’ which forms the southerly boundary.

The property has a guide price of £725,000, which considering it needs ‘cosmetic updating’ seems a little much to me. However, you can view it here.
